The Canticle Ministries Scholarship

Since it's inception in 2003, the Canticle Ministries Scholarship Program has provided both hope and financial assistance to high school students impacted by HIV/AIDS who dream of going to college.
The first of its kind in the country, many of the teens who apply have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS, and following high school, they are no longer eligible for foster care and other social services. Statistics show that more than 40 percent of youth who leave foster care will become homeless, but by supporting their education we hope to help them avoid this cycle of poverty.

Scholarships of $3000 each are available for graduates pursuing college, junior college, trade school or any accredited post-high school program.
Students eligible for the scholarships include those born with or impacted by HIV/AIDS who will graduate from high school. Application forms are available through school district offices, all county health departments, case managers and on the Canticle Ministries website.

"This is a forgotten AIDS population. There's a lot of emphasis on prevention, but little support for kids who have had HIV/AIDS since birth. This scholarship program answers a critical need for education to help them succeed.

Canticle Ministries is currently seeking contributions to the scholarship fund, asking for volunteers to assist on the scholarship committee, and inviting high school students to apply for the scholarships.
